Tehran mayor meets Iraqi PM

BAGHDAD – Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf held talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Saturday.
Qalibaf arrived in Baghdad at the head of a delegation on Friday.The Iraqi prime minister praised Tehran mayor’s visit to Baghdad.
“We are interested in using the experiences of Tehran Municipality,” Maliki told Qalibaf.
In a meeting with Baghdad Mayor Sabir al-Isawi earlier Saturday, Qalibaf said the Tehran Municipality is prepared to cooperate with the Baghdad Municipality in the reconstruction of the war-torn city.
Qalibaf said due to religious and cultural affinities, Iranian people and officials are highly motivated to help the Iraqi officials in rebuilding their country.
The Baghdad mayor expressed his country’s desire to seek Iran’s experiences in urban development.
Priorities outlined to the Iranians include the building of highways and intra- and inter-city roads, Sabir al-Isawi.
“We also need to use Iran’s experiences in the areas of ecological development and sanitation services,” he added
